Matt & Jodene
One day I got an email from Jodene wondering if I shot weddings! Ummm ya! After seeing a kiddo shoot I had done of her BFF’s kids (see shoot HERE) she was curious if I might be interested to shooting her cozy intimate at home wedding. I said yes yes yes please! She was excited to tell Matt she had book moi and in “so winnipeg” fashion Matt was like… “oh Mairen! I have know her since I was a kid!” (our parents are old friends). Ha! even better! I was so happy to see that Matt was marrying this absolutely lovely woman Jodene. I felt so honoured to be invited into their home to witness this very sweet, intimate, and beautiful ceremony that the couple performed themselves.
Matt & Jodene have such a great sense of style and it was evident the moment I walked into their home. Matt an architect with an affinity for modern furniture showed me a Blu Dot catalogue for photo inspiration and I instantly knew that this was going to be such a cool shoot! Their theme for the day was just a regular Saturday afternoon, doing the things they love to do on the weekends. We started out at our studio where I had artist Ben Jones do a surprise mural on the the chalkboard that I thought would compliment there style. Then off we went… First coffee at Parlour, some browsing at Hut K, and then a very fast and chilly walk in their neighbourhood park. The ceremony at their house surrounded by their closest family and friends was perfection. Followed by hugs, laughs and champagne and then off they went to Bistro 7. 1/4 for the night. What a great day!

March 25, 2013 - 1:47 pm - I FINALLY remembered to look at these on my computer after perusing them on my phone several times. Mairen, these are fabulous!! I mean, I know you started out with stunning subjects, but you have to take some credit for how beautiful these turned out! Love love love them! I don't envy Jo and Matt th task of selecting something to display in their home, and perhaps work too! As I was scrolling through, I fell in love with so many of these. I would love an excuse to have you shoot something for my family next time I'm in town! Outstanding! And yes, Jodene's dress, and the way she wears it, is like no other! Such a beautiful bride!!!
