Hi! I’m Patti Fernie, artist and owner of Lake Gal Artworks.

The name Lake Gal came to being because I was born into a family cottage in the Whiteshell and spend as much time there as I can. It’s my happy place, where I can escape the stress of life, BREATHE and rejuvenate.

I absolutely LOVE texture in art – I think it gives a work so much more visual interest than a flat surface.

In my work I use modeling paste, crackle mediums and a variety of collage materials like old encyclopedia, book and ledger pages, old record sleeves, packaging materials, and clothing tags to make a base layer to paint on.  Often, I leave collage bits peeking out from under the paint so you can see them when you look more closely at my finished work.

A high school art teacher for over twenty years, Patti began selling her work under the Lake Gal Artworks name in 2015. Her logo is derived from a pencil drawing her daughter made when she was eight, of her grandfather’s favorite lake chair. Patti’s work is popular at markets, art fairs and craft sales alike. She is grateful her work is enjoyed by others.
